Neighbors spoke about a man killed in the Anykščiai district: “Wait for the misfortune” (3)

Police reports detail an incident involving a man who was reportedly armed and exhibiting aggressive behavior. According to data gathered, officers spent approximately an hour attempting to persuade the man to voluntarily surrender his weapon, efforts which were unsuccessful. While awaiting the arrival of specialized “Aro” officers, the man allegedly fired two shots in an unspecified direction.

Upon the arrival of the officers, he discharged his weapon once, missing the personnel. In response to the perceived threat, the officers utilized their service weapons, resulting in the man’s death. Initial investigations suggest the weapon the man possessed was not legally carried.

While the exact firearm is pending forensic determination, sources indicate it resembles a hunting rifle. Police also reported that a previous weapon had been confiscated from the man. The confrontation escalated when neighbors, identified as Vilius and Al, fired at the man twice after he was reportedly told multiple times to surrender his weapon and leave the area.

The police maintained that the use of force by the officers was a direct response to the threat posed by the armed man. The incident underscores the volatile nature of the encounter between the authorities and the individual.
