The rehabilitation of the bridge spanning Smilgai, located on the state highway No. 229 Aristava-Kėdainiai-Cinkiškiai (specifically between the 7.05 and 7.10 km marks), is scheduled to proceed in distinct phases. Currently, the bridge—which coincides with J.
Basanavičiaus street in Kėdainiai—is in a poor state of repair. Deterioration is evident in the heavily worn structures, the absence of a functional rainwater drainage system, and the poor condition of both the road surface and the accompanying sidewalks. To address these issues, a comprehensive repair project has been initiated.
The technical working design for the bridge was developed by UAB „Plentprojektas.“ The execution of the physical works has been awarded to UAB „EWCON,“ which successfully secured the public tender. The contract value for these necessary works is estimated at approximately 2.2 million euros, inclusive of VAT. The implementation timeline is carefully structured.
Preparatory works are slated to take place within the current year. Following a designated technological break, the primary capital repair works on the bridge are planned to commence at the beginning of next year. The entire rehabilitation effort is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.
