Latvian border police prevented 95 foreigners from entering the country on Friday during a period of increased migrant activity. On Thursday, Polish authorities reported no unauthorized attempts to cross the state border, mirroring the situation at the start of the week. Regarding entries from Belarus, the number of people unlawfully entering Lithuania has shown a decrease compared to the previous year.
Last year, border officers prevented over 1,600 individuals from entering Lithuania from Belarus through unauthorized points. This year, the recorded number was 849. Collectively, since the onset of the migration crisis attributed to the Belarusian regime, authorities have prevented the entry of 25,300 unauthorized migrants into the country.
The influx of migrants into Eastern European nations began in 2021, a development that Western nations have accused the Minsk regime of instigating. The consistent monitoring by border services indicates ongoing efforts to manage irregular border crossings.
