After the heat – a storm warning from the meteorologists: the greatest danger for this part of Lithuania

Forecasters have issued warnings regarding an expected period of short, intense rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms across various places. According to reports, the weather pattern will exhibit significant variability, with some regions anticipating heavy downpours, while others may encounter hailstorms. Additionally, wind conditions are forecast to shift direction, generally ranging between 6 to 11 meters per second, with potential intensification up to 15–20 m/s due to localized squalls.

The meteorologists predict that the highest probability for summer storm activity is concentrated in the southeastern sector of the country. Specific areas flagged as potentially experiencing the most hazardous weather include the Druskininkai, Varėna, and Šalčininkai districts, alongside the southern portion of the Vilnius district. Residents are strongly advised to exercise heightened caution.

Safety measures recommended by weather authorities include ensuring that all windows and doors are securely fastened. Furthermore, property owners should secure any loose items located on balconies, terraces, or yards that could be dislodged by strong winds. It is also advised that vehicles should not be parked beneath tall trees during this period.

The overall forecast suggests a transition from stormy heat to more refreshing rain. While some areas may first experience initial gusts of wind, the potential for the storm to intensify dramatically, reaching up to 15–20 m/s from a squall, remains a primary concern for the coming hours.
