R. Popovienė evaluated the first results of the VBE: the adjusted threshold has indeed proven itself

During a session in the parliament, a debate arose regarding the recent state examination outcomes. Rasa Popovienė asserted that the educational system has achieved a level of stability and improvement. She attributed this positive trend, in part, to the implementation of an adjusted academic threshold.

Popovienė stated that the system has shown clear positive results, noting that tasks are receiving high levels of attention and that educators are prepared for the second year under the new educational programs. This assertion was countered by opposition Member of Parliament Simonas Kairys. Kairys focused specifically on the mathematics state exam results, pointing out a lack of significant progress.

He cited data indicating that more than 4,000 students failed the state exam in mathematics the previous year. Kairys argued that despite the lowering of the passing threshold, the number of failures this year remains approximately 4,000, suggesting that the academic performance has not improved measurably. The exchange highlighted a disagreement over the effectiveness of recent educational policy changes.

While one perspective emphasizes systemic stabilization and preparatory measures, the counterargument relies on quantitative data regarding persistent failure rates in core subjects, questioning whether the adjusted standards have translated into tangible improvements in student academic achievement.
