The Lithuanian women’s national football team achieved a historic milestone this year by advancing to the second round of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification stage. On October 9th, the squad will compete against the elite European side, Sweden, in a match scheduled to take place at the newly renovated Dariaus and Girėno Stadium in Kaunas. LFF president Edgaras Stankevičius addressed the team, acknowledging the heightened expectations following their significant achievement.
He stated that the players, having reached a historic level, deserved increased attention, recognition, and opportunities for development. “We all share the same goal – strong and growing Lithuanian women’s football,” Stankevičius remarked.
