A nightmarish family: 15-year-old from Vilnius called the police to deal with the conflict between his uncle and grandfather who were drunk. A case has been opened to investigate the threat of murder

An incident involving alleged domestic disputes was reported to the authorities in Vilnius on July 8th, around 8:25 PM, according to the Vilnius County Police Department. A minor, born in 2011, contacted the emergency line to report a volatile situation occurring at a gathering. She stated that during the party, a confrontation took place between her uncle and grandfather, during which her uncle allegedly threatened her with physical violence.

For her safety, the minor contacted the police and remained at the apartment building while awaiting their arrival. When the police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered that the minor’s grandfather had previously been issued a restraining order related to domestic violence. Consequently, the grandfather was taken into custody, arrested, and transported to the police station, where an official protocol was documented.

In addition to the immediate confrontation, the minor provided further details regarding family conflict. She informed the police that she had previously disclosed experiences of violence perpetrated by her father to a prosecutor in Kaunas while attending a summer camp. The police response addressed the immediate threat, leading to the arrest of the grandfather.

The incident highlights the involvement of law enforcement in responding to reports of family conflict and ensuring the safety of minors in the Vilnius area.
