Two people were injured when a car overturned on the Via Baltica near Marijampolė

On July 8th, at approximately 10:34 a.m., Kaunas Fire Brigade personnel responded to an incident on the A5 road, which connects Suvalkai, Marijampolė, and Kaunas. Firefighters were dispatched to the 46 km mark of the thoroughfare after a vehicle left the main roadway. Reports indicated that a car had veered off the primary road surface and subsequently came to rest in a ditch.

The two occupants of the vehicle—the driver, born in 1992, and the passenger, born in 1991—were accounted for. Authorities confirmed that neither individual sustained injuries requiring immobilization, as both were conscious and managed to exit the car on their own. This incident occurred near the major transport artery leading through the Kaunas region.

Emergency services responded to secure the scene following the departure from the main road. Separately, other incidents were reported in the wider region. In Švenčionys, medical personnel were called to examine a child and an individual involved in a moped accident.

Additionally, in Joniškis, a separate collision involved a moped striking a pedestrian, while in Šilutė, a 16-year-old man’s moped collided with a light car, resulting in injuries to two people. Medics transported those affected by the various accidents to the hospital for further assessment.
