During the weekend, Polish border guards detained 34 migrants who had illegally entered from Lithuania

Polish border authorities reported multiple incidents involving foreign nationals attempting to cross restricted areas near the Lithuanian border. On Friday, Polish border guards detained five individuals near the village of Špiliškės, approximately five kilometers from the Lithuanian border. These five foreigners, comprising four Pakistani nationals and one Afghan citizen, were found having crossed the border on foot in a prohibited zone and were subsequently returned to Lithuanian officials.

The following day, Saturday, two Somali nationals were detained in the Punsko district for similar reasons, having also crossed the border illegally on foot. These two individuals were transferred to the custody of the Lithuanian border guards. These recent reports follow a larger security incident that occurred on July 11 at the Budzisko border control post.

During that operation, a truck belonging to a 50-year-old Romanian citizen was stopped. Authorities discovered 27 migrants concealed within the semi-trailer, who had entered Poland through Lithuanian territory. Following that major seizure, 18 Somalis, 5 Pakistanis, and 4 Afghans were previously handed over to authorities.

These ongoing reports highlight continued monitoring and enforcement activities conducted by the border guards across the region.
