The price of life is two bottles of vodka

The Klaipėda District Court recently heard the verdict concerning Vilmantas Plivė, a 63-year-old man who had previously spent time in custody. The proceedings addressed a conviction stemming from an incident where he was found guilty of attempting to kill an individual due to hooliganistic motives. For this offense, the court sentenced him to a term of 14 years and 3 months in prison.

Plivė has a documented history of criminal activity, including nine prior convictions for dangerous recidivism. Notably, approximately fifteen years ago, he was involved in an incident where he allegedly attempted to burn alive two homeless brothers. The court proceedings today also featured the presence of a former shareholder of the “Snoras” bank.

During the hearing, State Prosecutor Arūnas Saunorius, representing the Klaipėda District Prosecutor’s Office, Criminal Prosecution Department, requested that the defendant receive a penalty greater than the one handed down. The case highlights the severity of the charges brought against the man, who reportedly lacks a permanent place of residence. The duration of his incarceration represents a significant period of his life.

The court’s decision determines the future time he will spend incarcerated, marking a serious chapter for who was involved in the legal proceedings.
