From the opposition – criticism of the new government: finger pointed at T. Valius and M. Katėna

During a parliamentary session, Liberal Alliance leader Viktoras Čmilytė-Nielsen, speaking on behalf of the opposition, identified specific members of the cabinet whom he views as weak points. He directed significant criticism toward the selection of Taurimas Valys for the post of Finance Minister. Čmilytė-Nielsen questioned the appointment, citing Valys’s reported statements indicating that he found numerical data unengaging and expressed a desire to handle state finance matters in a creative manner.

The opposition leader also voiced concerns regarding the candidacy of Martynas Katinas for the Interior Minister role. In addition to these criticisms of cabinet appointments, Čmilytė-Nielsen addressed other procedural matters, noting an instance involving S. Skvernelis on the parliament floor.

He confirmed that he had met with Skvernelis within the group setting. Overall, the statements presented a critical assessment from the opposition bench regarding the competence and suitability of key ministerial appointments, particularly highlighting the role of the Finance Minister and the selection of the Interior Minister.
