A Polish citizen from Latvia transported six illegal migrants through Lithuania

On Tuesday morning, law enforcement in the Kėdainiai district intercepted a vehicle near the border in Aristavo village following information provided by the VSAT Vilnius Border Guard Detachment. Kėdainių district police officers stopped a car registered in Poland, which was being driven by an 18-year-old Polish citizen. Authorities discovered that the vehicle was transporting several passengers, including six foreign men who were unable to provide any identification documents confirming their identity or citizenship status.

According to initial reports, five of these individuals claimed Sudanese nationality, while one was reportedly from Yemen. The Polish driver was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the local police station for further questioning. This incident highlights ongoing border monitoring efforts in the region, which have recently seen multiple reports of unauthorized border crossings.

Contextual reports indicate that similar incidents have taken place, including the apprehension of seven migrants attempting illegal entry into Poland from Lithuania, and previous instances involving the movement of Ukrainian migrants toward Poland. The police action underscores the ongoing efforts by border and local authorities to verify the legal status of individuals traveling through the region. The detention of the citizen and the documentation of the undocumented passengers are now under formal investigation by the relevant authorities to determine the nature of their travel and their true citizenship.
