Preliminary investigations have revealed that on July 5 of this year, an individual in Latvia was involved in the illegal transportation of nineteen foreign nationals. These individuals, according to reports, did not possess permanent residency status within Lithuania. The defendant utilized a minibus to move the group, intending to transport them further toward Poland.
The operation was reportedly motivated by the defendant’s goal of collecting a promised cash reward amounting to 7,000 euros. While the initial movement suggested a route toward Poland, the group was intercepted by police officers while traveling between Jurbarkas and Šiauliai. The authorities successfully halted the vehicle, leading to the documentation of an attempted entry into Lithuania.
The nineteen passengers included citizens from Burundi. Despite what appears to have been thorough preparations by the group, the police intervention prevented their intended passage into Lithuanian territory.
