According to the ŽŪDC, the average payment received for milk in June was 382.48 euros per ton, representing a decrease of 2.23% when compared to May.
Furthermore, large farms accounted for 68.19% of the total milk purchased during June. In Lithuania specifically, the volume of milk bought reached 125.14 thousand tons in the month. This figure marks a 1.14% increase compared to May, although it remains 0.45% lower than the volume recorded at the same time last year.
Market conditions are also being influenced by environmental factors, such as heat waves, which have impacted the production of key dairy goods, including Italy’s recognized culinary staples. Looking ahead, industry forecasts suggest robust growth for the European Union’s dairy sector. Both the International Dairy Market Review and Rabobank estimate that EU dairy production is expected to reach its peak growth point during the second quarter of this year.
