Early Friday morning, an incident involving a structure fire occurred in Vilnius. At approximately 5:57 a.m., an open fire began in a multi-apartment building on Leičių street, with flames visible exiting the windows. During the emergency, firefighters responded to the scene.
Rescuers were able to lift an individual who had jumped from the third floor to the balcony of the second floor before transferring him to medical personnel. The blaze resulted in the complete burning of one room, while other sections of the property sustained heavy water damage from the efforts to control the fire. Later that day, near 11:59 a.m., a separate fire broke out in a store located on Šilutės plente in Klaipėda.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that the second floor of the building was engulfed in flames. Store employees had initially attempted to suppress the fire using portable extinguishers before professional help arrived. The firefighters subsequently worked to mitigate further damage, tearing down approximately 50 square meters of suspended ceiling material, which was then removed and soaked.
Following a thorough inspection using a thermal imager, no sources for the fire were identified, and the premises were subsequently evacuated. In both instances, the rapid deployment of firefighters was crucial in managing the respective incidents.
