More opportunities for Kaunas children to move around: a new gymnastics and sports center will open its doors in the autumn

The World Health Organization recommends that children between the ages of 6 and 17 engage in at least 60 minutes of moderate to high-intensity physical activity daily. Despite these guidelines, numerous studies indicate that a significant proportion of children are not meeting this recommended activity level. Consequently, physical activity is recognized as being integral not only to structured sports but also to the holistic development, emotional well-being, and overall health of the child.

In response to this need, the city of Kaunas will see the introduction of a new resource for families. A network of gymnastics and sports centers named “Motion” is scheduled to begin operations in Kaunas this autumn. Furthermore, families will have the opportunity to experience the center’s philosophy and training methods before the official launch.

Free outdoor training sessions for children will be held throughout August, allowing the community to familiarize itself with the available sports programs. This initiative underscores a broader understanding that movement extends beyond mere athletic pursuits. By establishing accessible centers focused on comprehensive physical activity, the new network aims to support the consistent engagement of children in healthy, lifelong physical habits within the Kaunas community.
