An analysis of recent data from the Kėdainiai District Municipality Civil Registration and Archives Department reveals the most popular names for newborns in the region. The records provide a snapshot of current naming trends among Lithuanian parents. For boys, the names Nitas and Benas emerged as the most frequently chosen, each being registered five times.
Following these names, Adas, Adam, and Emil were recorded three times each. In the category of girls’ names, Smiltė holds the top spot, having been given to four newborns. Adelė and Izabelė share the second and third positions, each appearing three times.
The remaining names noted were Sun and Emilia, each registered twice. J. Olekas commented on the positive impact of local initiatives, stating that these efforts have contributed to an increase in the number of newborns.
Gaiva Petrauskienė, Head of the Civil Registration and Archives Department, observed that despite the statistical data, the fundamental choices made by parents regarding their children’s names remain consistent. The department’s analysis provides valuable insight into the cultural naming preferences within the community.
