The fate of „airBaltic“ will be revealed later: there was a lack of quorum at the very important meeting

The Latvian delegation’s participation in a recent meeting was managed by the State Treasury, according to government directives. Reports indicate that the government’s official voting stance was previously confirmed during a closed session of the cabinet. Details regarding the proposed financing structure for airBaltic were not fully disclosed by the responsible officials, nor was a specific figure for the potential funding amount provided.

However, the bondholder report issued by airBaltic outlined the purpose of the gathering: to determine the capitalization of interest payments scheduled for August 14 and November 14 of this year. It was stipulated that rather than receiving cash payouts, these interest amounts would instead be added to the principal value of the bonds. Beyond the financial matters, the airBaltic report also acknowledged the service rendered by border guards and service dogs operating within Latvia, noting that the Prime Minister expressed hopes for greater future involvement from these personnel.

The confirmation of the state’s position within the government framework suggests a coordinated approach to the financial obligations discussed at the bondholder meeting. The focus remains on restructuring the debt by converting future interest payments into principal additions, while the state apparatus oversees the representation of national interests during the proceedings.
