The Criminal Intelligence Department of the Lithuanian Prison Service announced the successful conclusion of a month-long search for a fugitive. On the morning of August 4th, the escapee, Vladislavas Gaticho, born in 1994, was apprehended in a suburb of Vilnius. The investigation and search commenced on June 30th after Gaticho attempted to remove an electronic monitoring device assigned to him during a brief stay at the Regional Addiction Center in Vilnius.
The incident was promptly reported to the police. Officers who responded to the last known location of the monitoring device discovered it to be damaged, at which point the defendant had already left the scene. Subsequent to the initial incident, the authorities conducted a pre-trial investigation and utilized criminal intelligence operations to gather necessary information.
These efforts culminated in the successful capture of the individual. The operation underscores the ongoing efforts of the prison service to manage and monitor individuals under supervision. The apprehension marks the end of a prolonged manhunt initiated following the breach of the electronic monitoring equipment.
