It is reported that North Korea is sending more of this dangerous weaponry to Russia – and doing so at the worst possible time for Ukraine(1)

Reuters spokesperson Andrius Černias reported that Russia intends to deploy approximately 90 North Korean soldiers to Voronezh, a city located in the western region of Russia. This deployment, according to the statement, will integrate the unit into the Russian 112th Rocket Brigade. The reported location, Voronezh, is situated roughly 150 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

This region has become a critical logistics center supporting Moscow’s military operations. Extensive rail and road infrastructure emanates from Voronezh, extending southward to Belgorod, a Russian city situated on the front lines, and further to Rostov. Rostov serves as a primary Russian base for operations conducted in southern and southeastern Ukraine.

Furthermore, the region maintains connectivity with Kursk. This area has seen previous involvement of North Korean personnel, who reportedly fought alongside Ukrainian forces in Kursk between November 2024 and March 2025, a period marked by Kyiv executing what was described as a major cross-border military action. The deployment of additional North Korean military personnel to Voronezh underscores the strategic military significance of this corridor within Russia.
