Another family tragedy: a man from Varėna killed his wife and committed suicide(1)

On August 5th, at approximately 9:15 p.m., authorities reported the discovery of the bodies of a woman, born in 1975, and a man, born in 1973, in Vazgirdonynai village, located near Varėna. Police Department officials indicated that a 16-caliber single-barreled hunting rifle was recovered near the deceased man. According to the department’s initial report, investigators suspect that the man shot the woman before taking his own life.

The incident occurred as part of a day marked by several separate reports of fatalities and violence across the region. In a separate development in Plungė, reports surfaced regarding the alleged assassination of a man, with authorities noting that the suspect is currently evading capture.
