A police report has detailed the findings regarding criminal activities involving the use of maritime vessels. Investigators determined that the ships were utilized for the transport of synthetic drugs, specifically ecstasy, moving cargo from Spain to Algeria. According to the police investigation, this criminal network was responsible for organizing at least 64 separate operations transporting migrants. These operations allegedly brought more than 2,000 individuals into Spain, generating profits estimated to exceed 24 million euros. The report highlighted the extreme danger associated with the sea crossings, noting that the migrants traveled in conditions described as “highly dangerous,” often being transported “packed, at high speed and in rough waters.” The police also noted that the circulation of videos online appears to be a factor encouraging migrants to travel to Ceuta.
