On August 10, at approximately 16:59, Jonava firefighters responded to Bartony village following a report that a vehicle had entered a pond. Upon arrival, the Opel Insignia car was located submerged approximately 30 meters from the shore, and the driver had safely exited the vehicle. Firefighters successfully recovered the Opel using a combination of a boat and a specialized car ramp, after which the battery was disconnected.
Throughout the day, emergency services were deployed across several locations for various rescue and safety operations. In Vilnius, firefighters managed a rescue operation lasting one hour, which involved saving a woman from a fire incident in a village, reportedly linked to lightning activity. Further rescue efforts were conducted in rural areas.
In Pasvalys, a rescue operation lasted 45 minutes after a man was discovered buried underground in a village setting. Separately, in Kėdainiai, a rescue team spent 30 minutes executing an excavation rescue operation to recover a man who was buried under earth. In addition to the rescue work, Kėdainiai was also the site of a significant ordnance disposal operation.
Firefighters were called to neutralize 1,400 anti-tank grenade detonators during an excavation procedure. These incidents highlight the diverse range of emergency responses managed by local fire departments.
