Drunk driver crashes into another car in Klaipėda and flees from the crash site

According to reports from the Klaipėda County Police Department, an incident involving two vehicles occurred on August 19 at approximately 8:01 PM at the Jakų roundabout in Klaipėda. The collision involved a Nissan car and a Peugeot car. Following the impact, the operator of the Nissan car left the scene of the accident.

Police subsequently located the Nissan vehicle within Klaipėda. Upon securing the car, authorities detained the driver, identified as an individual born in 1959. A subsequent test revealed that the driver had a blood alcohol content of 1.61 promils.

This reading indicated that the driver was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol. The police department confirmed that an official investigation has been launched to determine the full circumstances surrounding the collision. The investigation is focusing specifically on the driver’s actions at the time of the incident, establishing a direct link between the alcohol consumption and the subsequent accident involving the two cars.
