Friday’s surprises at gas stations: diesel prices are rising again

On August 21, the Lithuanian Energy Agency (LEA) received comprehensive data regarding the current state of fuel costs from 73 fuel companies operating 748 gas stations across Lithuania. This reporting mechanism requires fuel companies to submit daily information on the prices of fuel sold at their stations by 10 a.m. The resulting prices are subsequently published on the en.lt website, reflecting that gas station prices are subject to multiple daily adjustments.

The data compiled for August 21 showed specific variations in diesel prices across the network. At the time of reporting, the lowest recorded diesel prices (1.949 EUR/l) were observed at two Baltic Petroleum locations situated in Vilnius. Conversely, the highest diesel prices were documented across several networks, specifically at twenty-four stations belonging to the Viada network, eight stations from Circle K, and one station associated with Degta.

The market context remains fluid, with industry representatives voicing concerns regarding potential increases in taxation. Although these concerns were noted, reports indicate that government authorities have begun efforts to stabilize the prevailing situation. The continuous monitoring of gas prices by the LEA ensures that consumers and stakeholders have access to the most current information regarding the cost of fuel across the country’s extensive gas station infrastructure.
