Alert to passengers and drivers: overturned trees cut off trolleybus lines, some traffic lights are not working

Public transportation services in Kaunas have experienced significant disruptions due to adverse weather conditions, which have impacted the city’s infrastructure. According to reports, the failure of the contact network has affected the operation of the trolleybus system in multiple locations. Kauno autobusai issued an advisory acknowledging the resulting service interruptions, noting that some public transport vehicles are currently experiencing delays, changing routes, or temporarily bypassing certain stations.

The disruptions are linked to environmental hazards, as residents have reported numerous fallen trees across the city streets. These incidents have directly impacted essential services, with one reported instance detailing a tree obstructing passage on T. Masiulio street while traveling from the Kaunas hydroelectric power station, complicating traffic flow to the roundabout.

Furthermore, another location, Aukštutinės gatvės, reported a tree lying across the entire width of the street, rendering passage impossible. The widespread presence of fallen trees underscores the severity of the weather impact on urban mobility. These incidents have necessitated immediate operational adjustments for the entire public transport fleet, particularly the trolleybus network.

Authorities are managing the situation as service providers work to restore normal routes. Commuters are advised to anticipate delays and monitor official updates for the most current travel information.
