He had not seen such a weekend BPC before: after a record-breaking Saturday, an unusual Sunday

The BPC recorded an unprecedented volume of calls on Saturday, receiving 24,427 calls in a single day. This figure represents nearly five times the usual volume for a standard weekend day and marks the highest daily call count in the BPC’s history. The flow of calls increased rapidly starting at 2:00 PM and reached its peak between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM on Sunday.

While the situation stabilized, the number of daily calls remained substantially elevated, with the BPC receiving 9,134 calls per day. On Sunday, the average response time was reported at six seconds, and 90.9% of all calls were answered in under eight seconds. The longest recorded waiting time on Sunday, during the peak period, was approximately two minutes.

Historically, the BPC has managed around 9,000 calls per day during exceptional periods. The text notes that the only comparable event was in Lithuania, when the BPC received 202 calls during the declaration of a COVID-19 pandemic quarantine. These statistics provide an overview of the significant operational load experienced by the BPC over the past couple of days.
