Horrible accident in Vilnius: local resident found drowned brother in river(1)

On August 24th, at approximately 3:20 PM, emergency services received a distress call originating from a resident of Kalveliai Parish in Pakenė village. The caller reported that he had found his brother in the nearby river. Following the discovery, the man reportedly became frightened and suffered a seizure, prompting the resident to request official assistance.

Police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel were subsequently dispatched to the specified location. Separately, or concurrently, Mažeikių and Trakų districts firefighters were involved in a rescue operation at the Telšiai pond, where they successfully retrieved two individuals who were drowning. In another development related to the waterway, the body of a drowning victim was located in the river.

This body was reportedly found approximately 10 meters from the shoreline at a depth of about one meter. Firefighters recovered the body and transferred custody to the appropriate authorities. These incidents required a coordinated response from local emergency departments.

The initial distress call highlighted a personal emergency involving a family member, while the subsequent reports detailed multiple rescue efforts concerning individuals in the water. All necessary personnel responded to manage the multiple incidents reported throughout the afternoon.
