The Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (LRTK) issued several decisions on August 26 regarding online content distribution. The commission’s monitoring revealed that previously blocked piratical websites had resurfaced using new domain names. Specifically, several mirror domains associated with piratical content were identified, including “Kinocoin,” “Rezka,” “BMovies,” and “YTS.” The monitoring effort cataloged numerous instances across these platforms, noting 11 copies of “Kinocoin,” 9 of “Rezka,” 10 of “BMovies,” and 10 of “YTS.”
The LRTK determined that the copyrighted material hosted on these newly accessible websites was nearly identical to content previously available on the original, blocked sites.
Furthermore, the commission found that the functionality and activities provided by these new websites mirrored those of the previously restricted platforms. The commission emphasized that blocking piratical websites is an ongoing necessity rather than a singular action. According to the LRTK, when one domain is successfully blocked, new ones frequently emerge to continue distributing the same content.
Therefore, the appearance of new domain names often signals the launch of fresh websites attempting to circumvent restrictions and maintain the distribution of unauthorized material.
