Two separate traffic incidents involving impaired driving were reported on Saturday, prompting police investigations in different districts. The first accident occurred in the Šalčininkų district, specifically in Butrimonių village, around 10:40 PM. A 34-year-old male, operating a Toyota Prius, reportedly lost control of the vehicle and drove off the road, resulting in the car overturning.
Following the incident, the driver was transported to the hospital. Later that day, a second collision took place in the Kaunas district, near Pagirių village, around 5:00 PM. In this separate incident, a man, born in 1964, was involved in an accident after driving off the road while intoxicated.
Authorities noted that both drivers involved in the separate incidents were found to have elevated levels of blood alcohol content. The driver of the Prius was recorded with an intoxication level of 1.57 prom, while the second driver tested at 2.43 prom. In response to the events, police have opened formal inquiries into both accidents.
The incidents highlight concerns regarding impaired operation of vehicles on public roads. The investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding both vehicles driving off the road in the respective locations.
