The woman stated that the incident began when she was attempting to sell a mattress through an online marketplace.
She explained that a supposed buyer contacted her via a mobile application. This buyer subsequently sent a specific code to the woman. Upon entering this code into the platform, the woman discovered that 8,088 euros had been deducted from her bank account.
Following the discovery of the unauthorized transaction, the woman reported the incident to the police. The authorities have since opened an ongoing pre-trial investigation to examine the details of the fraud. The investigation is focusing on tracing the source of the fraudulent transaction and identifying those responsible for the supposed buyer account.
Police sources indicated that the investigation aims to determine how the code was exploited to facilitate the large deduction of funds. The department has advised the public to remain vigilant regarding online transactions and to exercise caution when accepting codes or payment instructions from unknown parties encountered through digital platforms.
