G. Nausėda sideded with L. Meškauskaitė, R. Miliūtei – sharp cut(8)

During the “Pozicija” radio program on “Žinių radijas,” President G. Nausėda addressed questions regarding the societal representation of L. Meškauskaitė.

When asked to consider which segment of society she represents, the President redirected the focus toward the function of the LRT council. Nausėda stated that his primary concern was ensuring the LRT council could fulfill its intended duties. He remarked that in the past, the LRT council operated more as a supportive body to the LRT administration.

He noted the difficulty in recalling the specific contributions, work areas, or objectives of previous council members. The President articulated a desire for the LRT council to comprise individuals who are independent in their perspectives. According to Nausėda, the council should not be restricted to representing a single, recognized political ideology within Lithuania.

Instead, it should be composed of people who represent diverse societal viewpoints, particularly those who may hold differing perspectives on current events. These comments were made during a discussion that included I. Vėgėlė, L.

Meškauskaitė, and S. Gentvilas, which addressed the question of whether G. Nausėda acts as a unifying or dividing force in society, and whether L.

Meškauskaitė is perceived as such. Throughout the exchange, Nausėda repeatedly emphasized that the structure and independence of the LRT council must be properly considered for the institution to serve its full scope.
