Multiple Fires Under Investigation in Lithuanian Municipalities
Several incidents involving suspected arson and property damage have been reported across Lithuania, prompting investigations by local authorities. The incidents occurred in Klaipėda, Kazitiškis, Ignalina, Anykščiai, and Panevėžys. On Tuesday evening, a fire broke out at approximately 5:50 p.m.
in Klaipėda, originating within a toilet in a multi-apartment building on Taikos Prospekt. The blaze resulted in damage to the fixture and an adjacent wall, and investigators are treating the incident as a suspected intentional ignition. Earlier that morning, in the Kazitiškis municipality, a country house was targeted.
At 7:30 a.m., multiple objects were set alight, causing damage to the property’s staircase, with estimated costs of approximately 400 euros. In Anykščiai, a residential building was targeted around 9:00 p.m. and a man in his twenties, with a blood alcohol concentration of 1.90, was identified as a suspect.
Separately, in Panevėžys, an arson incident involving a dormitory room was captured on video surveillance, leading to the suspect’s hospitalization for treatment. Authorities are currently investigating these distinct cases of fire-related damage to residential and private structures across multiple Lithuanian municipalities.
