A non-standard championship was held in Molėtai – disc golf players competed in teams

The Lithuanian Discipline Football Federation, in collaboration with Molėtų Discipline Football Club and DiscCity Team, recently hosted the fourth team championship in Lithuania. This event utilized a team format, which is noted as an unconventional approach within the individual sports discipline. The team structure offers participants a distinct competitive experience, contrasting with the self-reliance typically emphasized in individual sporting events.

The championship featured a unique scoring mechanism. Rather than accumulating points based on the total number of shots, the competition focused on direct head-to-head performance. Each set of baskets was contested between the competing teams, requiring the players to aim for superior performance against their direct opponents.

A single point was awarded for every basket won, irrespective of the margin of shots between the teams. The participating teams were composed of four players, with a requirement that at least one player be female. Each match was structured into two distinct halves.

This format allowed the players to engage in a comprehensive team effort throughout the championship. The organizational effort highlights a shift towards collaborative play within the sport’s competitive structure.
