Lithuanian President G. Nausėda reaffirmed Lithuania’s commitment to providing comprehensive support to Kyiv across multiple sectors. The President emphasized that this commitment extends from military and defense industry assistance to critical areas such as reconstruction, energy resilience, education, and institutional strengthening within Ukraine.
During his address, Nausėda detailed the long-term nature of the nation’s assistance, noting that Lithuania provides annual military support amounting to no less than 0.25% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Furthermore, the support continues to cover the energy sector, as well as programs dedicated to the rehabilitation, reintegration of populations, and initiatives aimed at returning Ukrainian children. Regarding defense cooperation, the President strongly emphasized the immediate goal of establishing local production capabilities for Ukrainian drones and anti-drones within Lithuania.
He stressed the necessity of ensuring the smooth implementation of the recently signed cooperation agreement in the defense industry. According to Nausėda, successfully executing this collaboration would significantly enhance the capabilities of the Lithuanian defense sector, enabling it to compete effectively with global industry leaders. The overall message underscored Lithuania’s sustained and multifaceted dedication to Ukraine’s stability and recovery.
