Due to the continually escalating nature of cybersecurity requirements, ESO is proactively enhancing the protection measures for customer accounts. A key component of this upgrade is the implementation of two-factor authentication (2FA), a widely recognized security measure designed to bolster the defense of customer accounts and the sensitive data they contain against unauthorized access. This enhanced security protocol is being deployed in adherence to the mandates set forth by the European Union’s NIS2 directive.
This directive aims to significantly strengthen the overall security posture of information systems utilized by essential service providers across the EU. While the fundamental login process will remain familiar to users, an additional layer of security confirmation will be integrated. When customers access the self-service portal and input their established email address and password, a unique, one-time login code will subsequently be dispatched to the email address registered with ESO.
Customers will then need to enter this specific code within the self-service environment to finalize their login. This addition strengthens the overall security framework protecting customer information. By incorporating 2FA, ESO ensures a more robust barrier against unauthorized entry, thereby safeguarding the integrity of customer data while maintaining a streamlined user experience.
These continuous updates reflect ESO’s commitment to maintaining high standards of digital security in response to evolving global cyber threats.
