During the multi-month trial, T. J. Abdulmohsen, who is a psychiatrist and known anti-Islam activist, admitted to planning the attack.
However, he contested the allegation that he intentionally ran over individuals. His testimony throughout the proceedings was noted by the court as occasionally inconsistent and included references to various conspiracy theories and right-wing ideologies. At the commencement of the trial in November, T.
J. Abdulmohsen stated that he was merely “driving,” while also admitting to having rented a black BMW on December 20, 2024. The prosecutors’ forceful demand for severe sentencing underscores the gravity with which the court views the planned nature and extensive consequences of the attack.
