The first Olympic Day will take place in Jonava for the first time

Olympic Day is an annual, family-oriented sports festival designed to promote physical activity, healthy lifestyles, and community cohesion. Over more than three decades, the event has established itself as the most significant fixture within the Lithuanian Olympic movement. The observance concluded with a traditional ceremony marking the transfer of the Olympic Day flag.

During this ritual, Kaunas formally passed the symbolic event flag to Jonava, which has been designated as the new capital for the celebration in 2027. The flag was received by Jonava Mayor Mindaugas Sinkevičius from Dainora Gudzinavičienė, President of the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee and an Olympic champion. Addressing the attendees, Dainora Gudzinavičienė remarked that the current year’s Olympic Day was characterized by positive energy and broad participation.

She noted that the event successfully provided diverse activities, ensuring that every participant could find an engaging and relevant experience. The ceremony highlighted the continuity of the tradition, reinforcing the cultural importance of the Olympic spirit across the nation. The transfer of the flag signifies the ongoing evolution of the Day celebrations, ensuring that the commitment to athletic engagement continues over the coming years.
