Officers from the Vilnius Border Guard District’s Padvarionys Border Guard Post utilized technical surveillance methods on Sunday to intercept the illicit transfer of goods. The operation targeted a shipment originating from Belarusian territory near Juškiai village in the Šalčininkai district. Border personnel responded immediately to the suspected violation site.
In a forested area located approximately 30 meters from the state border, the border guard teams discovered several bundles wrapped in black plastic film. Authorities promptly secured the immediate vicinity and expanded the search perimeter. During the sweep, an additional five bundles were recovered.
Furthermore, the border guard successfully landed a drone that had arrived from Belarus. All items were collected by the VSAT officers and transported back to the Padvarionys Border Guard Post for inspection. Upon opening the seized materials, officers identified 30 bundles in total.
The contents revealed 3,000 packs of “NZ Gold” cigarettes, which bore visible Belarusian markings. This seizure underscores the ongoing vigilance of the border guard forces tasked with monitoring the integrity of the national border. The operation highlights the efforts of the border guard to interdict contraband moving across the border from Belarusian sources.
