A recent judicial ruling has finalized the legal proceedings against A. Kandrot and several co-defendants concerning various financial offenses. Previously, Kandrot had been sentenced to four years in prison in connection with tax crimes involving the illegal trade of fuel and tax evasion.
Following the exoneration of Kandrot regarding fraud charges, the court proceeded to impose a final sentence based on the remaining convictions. A three-judge panel rendered a judgment that exonerated Kandrot of certain charges while simultaneously adjusting the sentences and civil claims for the other individuals convicted alongside him. With this judgment now effective, the mandated sentence must be enforced.
However, the ruling remains subject to appeal before the Supreme Court of Lithuania. During the proceedings, Kandrot was observed protesting, an incident that involved him interacting with participants and law enforcement officers. Due to the finality of the judgment, the first instance Kaunas court is scheduled to transfer the case to the second instance court to oversee the enforcement of the ruling.
The court’s decision addressed multiple categories of crimes, adjusting the penalties previously handed down. The overall outcome solidifies the current sentence structure for the remaining charges, marking a significant conclusion to the litigation surrounding these complex financial crimes.
