According to Gintaras Pocius, head of the “Rekordų akademijos,” the record’s notable aspect is not solely its impressive dimensions, but also its material composition. The entire arrangement was constructed using only dahlia flowers, a bloom designated as the symbolic flower of Telšiai.
Pocius reported that the creation utilized an estimated 5,000 dahlia flowers and buds, supplemented by natural green foliage elements. The primary objective behind this initiative was to foster community engagement through joint creative endeavor. The creation of this record-setting piece involved participation from residents of Telšiai city, the local district, various community organizations, and private citizens.
The materials for the display were sourced entirely from the community, with the dahlia flowers donated from personal gardens and public flowerbeds, underscoring the deep local connection to the bloom.
