Unseen things in Greece: a huge penalty for the wife of a basketball player

Dimitris Giannakopoulos, the owner of PAO, has faced escalated disciplinary action following comments made on the social media platform Instagram during a recent series game in the Greek basketball league. Initially, Giannakopoulos received a three-month ban from visiting any Greek basketball league teams. However, subsequent actions prompted the disciplinary panel to increase the severity of the penalty.

The business executive was subsequently issued an additional fine of 50,000 euros and was banned from visiting all arenas for a full year. Furthermore, the Panathinaikos team itself incurred financial penalties related to fan conduct during the two preceding games. The club was fined 40,000 euros, and the two games in question will be played without spectators.

These combined penalties highlight the league’s strict enforcement regarding conduct within the sport. The cumulative sanctions—including the extended ban on Giannakopoulos and the financial penalties for the club—underscore the league’s commitment to maintaining order and professionalism within the basketball environment. The measures serve as a significant penalty to deter similar future infractions by team personnel and associated parties.
