In Jonava, shots helped – police officers are looking for the shooter

Multiple incidents involving law enforcement activity were reported in Jonava, with police responding to reports of gunfire and an alleged break-in. According to the Kaunas Regional Police Office, an incident occurred on June 13th at 21:51 on P. Vaičiūno g.

Authorities received a “Category B” report concerning potential violence within a close environment, alleging that an intoxicated relative was attempting to enter an apartment. Upon arrival, police officers responded to the scene, leading to the firing of several shots as the suspect fled the area. Initial reports confirmed that neither the responding officers nor the residents sustained any injuries.

Following the event, an “Arrest” plan was enacted, and a large number of police personnel began searching for the man, who was reportedly born in 1980. Separately, police were also alerted to reports of shots fired near a multi-apartment building on P. Vaičiūnas street at 22:10.

Witnesses reported hearing between three and four shots fired during this time. In both instances, initial assessments indicated that no injuries were reported, and police units remained actively engaged in searching for the individuals involved. The increased activity highlights a significant presence of police officers in Jonava, particularly around midnight, as multiple calls for service were managed by the department.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported shots and the alleged break-in, maintaining a high level of alert in the area.
