On the Polish border – empty fuel reserves: local authorities propose to limit trade

Fuel shortages are increasingly being reported across the border towns of Poland, resulting in extensive queues forming at gas stations. The situation has intensified, with reports continuing to surface regarding limited fuel availability in these border areas. Notably, fuel stocks at the border town of Svinouiscio have completely depleted due to a surge in demand.

Hungary and Croatia are actively attempting to mitigate the escalating rise in fuel prices. K. Vaitiekūnas has cautioned against replicating the behavior observed in Poland, following a report by “Polsat News” which detailed drivers in both nations “buying large quantities of fuel.” Furthermore, some German drivers are taking advantage of significantly lower prices, saving up to 20 euros to fill their tanks, as a single liter costs approximately two zlotys (around 0.47 euros) less than in Germany.

The Svinouiscio mayor, Joanna Agatowska, has appealed to local residents to practice fuel conservation. These ongoing shortages underscore the challenges related to border fuel distribution and the impact of heightened consumer demand.
