“Life can be planted on a sofa”: an expert advised – at least you won’t have to worry about money

According to J. Sabaliauskienė, Senior Advisor at the life insurance and pension accumulation company Allianz Lietuva, personal experiences underscore the critical role of robust insurance coverage during medical emergencies abroad. She recounted an instance several years prior when she received a call from the sister of a client.

The family had been traveling internationally when the client suffered a stroke. The situation presented immediate logistical and medical challenges, as local medical staff initially declined to facilitate the client’s transfer back to Lithuania. However, the necessary care and repatriation were ultimately covered through the activation of multiple policies.

Specifically, a travel insurance policy arranged for the client’s return, while a life insurance policy that included critical illness protection covered the associated hospital treatment costs. Sabaliauskienė noted that the demeanor of the client’s sister, which she observed during the crisis, reflected a sense of calm. She stated that while the emotional strain associated with natural disasters or severe health events is significant, the financial stabilization provided by adequate insurance mechanisms proves invaluable.

For Sabaliauskienė, the successful management of the crisis demonstrated that having comprehensive coverage does not negate the stress of an emergency but substantially mitigates the ensuing complications, allowing families to focus on recovery rather than financial uncertainty.
