Psychotropic substances found in Vilnius prison: the court has sentenced two convicted persons to imprisonment

The Vilnius District Court has found two brothers guilty of unlawful possession of narcotics and has ordered them to serve an additional 45 days in detention. According to the preliminary investigation, the two brothers, who were incarcerated in a Vilnius prison in 1994 and 1999, were found to have unlawfully stored narcotics within the toilet of their cells. The prohibited substances, which included synthetic cannabinoids, were discovered and seized by officers from the Lithuanian Prison Service during a search conducted in May 2025.

The evidence gathered from this search formed the basis for the preliminary investigation, which subsequently established the details surrounding the criminal activities. During the investigation, authorities uncovered a substantial network of drug dealers. It was determined that narcotics were being sold not only within the confines of the prison but also outside of it.

Despite the findings presented by the court, the two defendants did not admit to their guilt. The court’s decision to impose additional detention time reflects the severity of the drug possession and the scale of the illicit drug trade uncovered within the correctional facility.
