16 investigations for unlawful land-clearing works

Environmental Protection Department (AAD) officials conducted assessments between April and June to determine the legality of earth-moving works. These evaluations focused on verifying whether necessary permits were secured and ensuring that environmental damage was prevented and that territories were managed appropriately. During the second quarter, the Kaunas Department carried out 23 raids while checking 26 different plots.

Following these inspections, two plots were flagged for further investigation. The department indicated that these monitoring efforts are scheduled to continue throughout the year, specifically during the October to December period. Meanwhile, the Klaipėda Department reported conducting eight raids during the same timeframe, resulting in the inspection of 34 plots.

Furthermore, five separate investigations were initiated across plots located in Šilutė, Jurbarkas, and Pagėgiai, all due to potential environmental violations observed by the officials. These actions highlight the ongoing oversight by various local departments tasked with enforcing environmental regulations. The systematic checks confirm the department’s commitment to ensuring that all earth-moving works adhere to established legal standards.

The data collected by the officials across these regions will guide future enforcement actions, maintaining a focus on compliance and environmental protection across the monitored territories.
