Renovations are being prepared in Nida: a place that many remember will soon look different

For over a century, a colony of artists in Nida has cultivated a unique and enduring creative tradition that remains a defining element of the cultural identity of the Curonian Spit. To support and expand this rich cultural heritage, the Neringa Municipality is planning a significant development aimed at fostering the arts. According to Neringa Municipality Mayor Darius Jasaitis, the goal is to open up avenues for the growth and development of this artistic tradition.

To achieve this, the municipality is actively seeking partners capable of contributing to the establishment of a modern, international art space within Neringa. This new venture will be the Nida Modern Art Museum, slated for construction on the site of the former summer stage at Pamario g. 55.

The proposed structure is designed to be a two-story facility covering an area exceeding 1,100 square meters. The museum’s comprehensive amenities are intended to support diverse artistic and cultural activities. These facilities will include dedicated rooms for events, concerts, and conferences, alongside a library, a storage area for exhibits, a residential space for artists, and a retail souvenir shop.

The development aims to integrate contemporary international art practices while honoring the deep-rooted creative history of Nida. By creating this expansive, multi-functional hub, the municipality intends to solidify the region’s position as a major center for artistic exchange, ensuring that the unique local tradition can continue to flourish for years to come.
