Speaking on Monday, Jonas Pirožnikas, head of the Palanga beach rescue service, reported that despite a period of high activity, the recent weekend passed without major incidents. However, he noted that the service was highly occupied.
“We had plenty of work,” Pirožnikas stated, reflecting on the operations after the busy period. He detailed instances requiring intervention, such as an emergency call concerning an individual found in a critical condition on the beach, necessitating the arrival of paramedics. Looking ahead, the authorities cautioned the public regarding the anticipated weather.
A hot weekend is forecast, with temperatures expected to reach up to 30 degrees Celsius. Lifeguards stressed that while major disasters were averted during the recent period, vigilance remains crucial. They urged holidaymakers to strictly adhere to established beach safety guidelines to prevent preventable emergencies.
