Data released by the Lithuanian Agriculture and Rural Development Agency indicates recent trends in the pricing and purchasing volume of milk from large agricultural operations. In May, the reported price for milk from large farms stood at 391.22 euros per tonne, representing a decrease of 3.10 euros than the price recorded in April. Regarding overall market activity, the data shows that large farms accounted for 71.45 percent of the total milk purchased during May.
The total volume of milk purchased reached 123.73 thousand tons. This figure represents a substantial increase of 9.66 percent compared to the previous month, and also reflects a slight rise of 0.96 percent when compared to the same period last year. In related market analysis, the European Commission (EC) provided insight through its agricultural market review.
The EC noted that as prices for various dairy products across the European Union demonstrate stabilization or an upward trend, raw milk prices are anticipated to increase over the coming months. However, the Commission cautioned that this expected upward adjustment in raw milk pricing may occur at a later date. These figures provide a snapshot of the current supply dynamics, showing both a slight dip in the per-tonne price for large producers and a notable year-over-year increase in total purchase volumes.
